September 2nd, 2010

“In December will the online personal medical records be launched in the whole country”, said the French  Minister of Health Roselyne Bachelot on the 22nd of July 2010. Already trialled in a few areas since 2004, this tool should enable a better coordination of the treatments and savings for health insurance services, with the creation of centralised health records for each patient and the sharing of all this information between health profesionals.

The national launch of this project in France was initially planned for 2007, but it has been postponed for delays and security concerns from professionals and patients. “The technical requirements to launch the online personal medical records have been met today“, said Roselyne Bachelot. All the health insurance contributors will eventually have an online access to all their medical data.
